Let’s talk about COVID-19 stay at home order and how it can be a game changer!

This is a mental health moment with your Professional Sista.

Okay, let’s get this straight, you are not stuck at home, you are safe at home - there is a difference.  You are able to experience enjoyable times with your family.  Yes, it is difficult to stay at home but let’s stay positive.  This is the time to do real self-care such as journaling, deep meaningful meditation, understanding health communication and finding alternative ways to stay connected.  If you are reading this blog, I want you to know you are amazing and an overcomer.  This is your time to think outside of the box.  Some of you have books to read or write.  Many of you have the extra time to really focus on wellness.  It is time to put you and your family first, such as making it a priority to sit and eat dinner with your family.  Start making a habit of walking in the morning or exercising.  This is the time to learn to make bread or smoke a turkey.

As you can see this is definitely the time to reset your thinking. I want you to get excited about you!  Turn off the news and stop stressing over issues that are beyond your control.  Write positive affirmations and place them on your fridge and bathroom mirrors.  Develop a game in which you and your family go on a virtual vacation.  Go outside at night and look for lighting bugs with your kids or unearth worms.  I want to empower you to shift your mind set!  Focus on the things that are going well.  Be thankful for your health and pray for those who are ill. Refuse to be anxious and worried.  This is the time to stay connected to positive people.  We are all feeling undertones of this Covid-19 pandemic together and I believe we shall, THRIVE!
